Dive into a world of surreal coral, fantastic animals, and great beauty

Any who likes to dive will tell you: The world under the sea is as fantastic, strange, and exciting as a visit to another world.

The coral reefs of the world come alive with a magic all their own. Graceful purple sponges sway in the current. Nurse sharks nap under a ledge. Coral gardens of pastel blues stretch as far as the eye can see.

Pause in front of the waving tentacles of a sea anemone, and watch as a brilliant orange-and-white clownfish comes out from the protection of the anemone to glare at the intruder. Get a close-up look at a giant clam, 3 feet across, its zig-zag lips slashing across a brilliant green-and-blue shell.

Small creatures, as well as large ones, inhabit this world. Lie motionless on the sand in front of the burrow shared by a tiny sea goby and a cleaner shrimp. The goby offers protection to the shrimp. In return, the shrimp digs out the burrow, and keeps it clean. You'll watch, entranced, as the shrimp carries the trash out from a tiny burrow. The shrimp also help the gobies with personal hygiene. (Sorry, the shrimps are not available for hire as domestic help within the U.S.)
